Eliminate fibre cracking on your folding machine

If your covers crack along the fold, the problem is the scoring blades your folder came with. Here is how to end it for good.

The same brochure job on the same stock. Left, the folder's standard scoring. Right, the Tri-Creaser.

Run a solid-coloured cover through your folder and look along the fold. If the coating has split into a ragged white line, that job is fighting the scoring blades the machine came with. Steel scoring crushes the fibres instead of stretching them. On digital prints, UV varnish and laminated stock it gets worse, and the heavier the ink coverage the louder the crack.

So good work gets ruined at the last step. Reprints. Samples bent by hand for the customer. Jobs quoted with a margin for waste, or covers sent out to be letterpress creased at somebody else's price and pace.

This is what is causing it, and what replaces it:

Steel crushes the fibres. The Tri-Creaser's rubber rib presses the sheet into a matched channel and stretches them instead.

The Tri-Creaser ends this on the machine you already own. Its colour-coded rubber creasing ribs form the crease without breaking the surface. The crack disappears, at full machine speed, on stock from 85 to 350gsm. It slides onto your folder's shafts with no modification, is fitted in minutes, and each colour setting is matched to a stock weight so operators change jobs without guesswork.

We have a customer that requires virtually perfect non cracking spines on a saddle stitched book, using coated 10 pt cover. Prior to using your scoring device, we were offline scoring on a sheet fed press and still could not achieve perfection. We nearly lost this customer due to this issue. Then we tried your device and it solved the problem immediately. Since the beginning, this device has worked flawlessly, so well that we have purchased additional units in some of our other divisions.
