A score three times deeper — so pharmaceutical leaflets fold perfectly, fold after fold, without tearing.

The Pharma Score is a superior, multi-choice scoring device built for pharmaceutical information leaflets and instructional guides — the documents folded so many times to fit a small box that the score has to be exactly right. It replaces your folding machine's OEM steel scoring with a three-times-deeper score across six colour-coded settings.

Deep, accurate scoring of pharmaceutical information leaflets and instructional documents that must fold many times over to fit into small cartons.

The problem

The problem we solve

On fine and pharmaceutical folding work, the steel scoring tools supplied with your folding machine turn setting into a guessing game. Operators fight to find a depth that keeps the fold consistent — too shallow and the work won't fold reliably, too hard and you get front-edge tearing and crow's-feet wrinkles. Too often you're forced to settle for a weaker score than the job really needs, and consistency drifts across the run.

The problem
before

Why the OEM way fails

Why the standard factory method falls short

Because pharmaceutical leaflets and instructional guides are folded so many times to fit into small boxes, the scoring has to be highly effective — and the OEM application falls below acceptable standards. OEM scoring tools are made of steel, so they are abrasive and usually tear the product before the required score depth is even achieved, leaving operators to settle for a weaker score than the job needs.

How it works

How the Pharma-Score works

Six female channels create the score widths needed across the full range of folded media, while three split, colour-coded scoring ribs — made from a hard plastic compound to increase score depth — dictate the depth according to the stock. The ribs are split, so the male hub simply opens and closes to lock them securely in place, producing a score up to three times deeper than the OEM tool.

Six in-built score settings of varying widths and depths are all quick and easy to select via the male/female colour-coding system — so even inexperienced operators become instant scoring experts and the guesswork is taken away entirely. Because the number of folds makes score width and depth critically important, the Pharma Score is built to deliver optimum fold quality every time.

  • Reduces fold wrinkles (crow's feet)
  • Six in-built score settings chosen via colour coding
  • Fast, foolproof set-up that removes operator guesswork
  • 3-month 100% money-back guarantee

Applies a score three times deeper than OEM tools — with hard-plastic-compound ribs that reach the depth tight, many-times-folded pharma leaflets demand.

Folding is always 100% consistent with the score — vital when a single leaflet has to fold cleanly a dozen times into a small box.

Reduces fold wrinkles (crow's feet) for a clean, professional finish on every panel.

Fast, foolproof set-up — split ribs insert quickly into the male hub and colour coding removes operator guesswork, saving time and improving productivity.

What printers say

When a new creasing tool was needed for the cover feeder of our Muller Martini binding machine, we turned to Tech-ni-Fold. We were utterly amazed when we tried the adjustable version of the Quad Creaser — it had colour-coded ribs that corresponded to different crease styles, and it further improved the quality of covers using our own special side-gluing "spineless" method. Not only does the system eliminate fibre-cracking, it also minimises the reset force of the cover. The Quad Creaser has allowed Kosel to raise its own quality standards for bound products.

We installed your Quad-Creaser system into 3 of our binding lines after seeing it at a book show. The OEM scoring system has a swap time of around 4 hours for a single engineer, whereas your system can have a full change in under 10 minutes once installed. As your creasing rings last around 800,000 covers, that's one change per month — and the change is now an operator task with rings held in stock, rather than ordering OEM parts and waiting for an engineer. We change from 2-score to 4-score several times a day, and your system does it in half the time of the OEM system.
