Machine-direction creasing at full web speed

Creasing down the web normally means slowing the line, sending the work offline, or fighting a rotary die for registration. A Technicrease cassette creases in the machine direction inline, at 100% web speed, driven by the web itself.

Everything about a web line is built for speed, until the job needs a crease. Then the choices narrow: slow the web down, send the work offline to be finished as sheets, or run a rotary die and hope registration holds. The work that suffers most is the work worth having, because folded covers, wallets and cartons crack along the fold the moment the stock is coated, digital or brittle.

A Technicrease cassette puts the crease in the line itself. It retro-fits into your web press or converting line, wherever the crease needs to happen, and it is driven directly by the moving web: no external drive, no power supply, nothing to synchronise. The crease is formed with the same band-and-channel geometry used across our tooling, so fibres stretch instead of tearing, and the line never slows down.

One customer won a major wallet contract with a UK retailer purely on the speed and price their web press could offer, then had their samples rejected: the spines cracked when the wallets were folded. Two creasing devices fitted into a cassette just before the sheeter solved it inline at full web speed. They completed the contract, and have run the same multi-million job every year since.
