The problem we solve
Perfect-bound books are judged by their cover. The OEM steel scoring modules supplied with your binding line are abrasive and create shallow indentations in the two spine and two hinge areas — which, on covers printed with darker inks and finished in laminate, toner or UV coating, fracture into the flaking you see along the front and back hinges. The problem only gets worse as the front cover is opened and closed, adding more stress to the hinge.

Why the standard factory method falls short
OEM scoring devices compound flaking for two reasons. They are made of steel — a destructive material that breaks cover-stock fibres and any coating on top, rather than gently softening them. And they create small V-shaped indentations that are too weak and too narrow for the spine and hinge to fold cleanly.

How the Quad-Creaser works
This patented application uses specially formulated rubber and nylon creasing ribs that gently stretch the fibres in the book cover to produce flawless, letterpress-style creases. The three-times-deeper crease forms the shape that fits perfectly around the spine and hinge — and the Quad Creaser can apply two upper (hinge) and two lower (spine) creases that simply won't allow cracking or flaking to occur, regardless of grain direction.
The durable, patented colour-coded rubber creasing ribs are split, so you install them straight into the male and female hubs of your cover creasing unit without taking out the shafts. Installation is simple and needs no machine modifications — you're up and running within minutes.
You can vary the spine and/or hinge widths and depths to work on all cover stocks, and the special male/female colour-coding system makes set-up quick and easy across every cover-stock weight.
The three-times-deeper crease prevents the print, coating and laminate from flaking away, and the stronger creases keep the hinge bonded — so your finished books hold together better, fold effortlessly, and look great across their whole shelf life.
