Perfect-bound covers pick up all four of their creases — two spine, two hinge — on your SB-17's cover feeder, from steel scoring discs that crush the fibres instead of stretching them. On coated, laminated, recycled and digitally-printed cover stock, that shows up as cracking along the spine and hinges: on the one surface of the whole book your customer actually handles.

The Technifold Quad-Creaser replaces the steel scoring discs on your SB-17's cover feeder with the same patented rubber-creasing principle that ended fibre-cracking on folding machines. All four cover creases — both spine creases and both hinges — are formed in one pass, with the fibres stretched gently into shape instead of crushed.

A cover that opens flat is built at the hinge — your SB-17's scoring can't guarantee it
The hinge crease decides how the finished book opens and how the cover sits against the first page. A weak or uneven steel score leaves a hinge that fights the reader, gaps at the spine, or a crease line that fractures the first time the cover is opened fully.

With the Quad-Creaser the hinge is a formed crease, not a scored line: deep, even and repeatable on every cover, set once for the job and identical from the first cover to the last. Books open flat, covers sit tight to the spine, and the crease line stays clean through repeated opening.
